Copenhagen City Hall Elopement

Did you know that Demark is one of the easiest countries in Europe to get married in for international couples. 15000 couples travel to Denmark every year to tie the knot. Mary and Sasha travelled all the way from Vancouver, Canada and planned to elope on their epic European adventure! There are SO many reasons a couple might choose to elope and I’ve found the most popular reason to be that they just wanted their wedding to be all about them and their love without any pressure.

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and such an incredible city. As the city was just one stop on the couples trip that wanted to fit some sightseeing into their elopement experience. The ceremony itself went by in the blink of an eye, but it was so so romantic and their marriage certificate has been achieved in the City Hall where it will remain forever. Copenhagen City Hall is one of the most stunning buildings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, we could have spent hours wandering through the corridors but we had a lot of sights on our list so after a little rest in the gardens we hit the streets.

After we spent a good couple of hours exploring the cobbled streets and getting lost in the city, we decided to take a short train journey out to Kalvebod Fælled nature reserve. It was amazing how peaceful and wild the landscape was just a short train ride out of the city. The park was also littered with weird and wonderful wooden architecture which made for some very interesting photo opportunities.

This was our first visit to Copenhagen and it definitely will not be our last, this city has so much to offer and in our opinion one of the best destinations for a city elopement.
