Photographing love stories and life on the road

We are Harriett and Chris.

a.k.a. the harphams a.a.k.a those weird vegan van hippies

Tree planters (and huggers), music lovers and Guinness drinkers. We live with Maisie the cat, in Bertie the van. Scotland is our spiritual home and we’re probably in the mountains as you read this.

Have you ever imagined an unconventional life, but shrugged it off because it seemed…well, just a bit crazy?! In 2020, we stopped shrugging.

We’d always dreamed of running away to the mountains in a van we called home. And one evening, in a moment of madness, we just did it. We emailed our landlord and gave our month’s notice. We sold all our stuff, and in a few short weeks, Bertie became our home.

And (with the exception of emptying the toilet) it really is a wonderful little life. Our days are spent exploring the corners of our beautiful country, soaking in sunsets together and hiking in the rain. We get to open our front door to somewhere new every day, go to different pubs and meet interesting new characters every evening. And if we’re honest, we still do spend a large amount of our time snuggled up in bed watching films! But when we look out of our window, every day brings a different view.

Maisie the cat is like our child! She comes everywhere with us and we love her to bits, she’s even made an appearance at the odd wedding.

We value experiences, people and memories over “things''. We’ve stripped everything from our lives except a roof (and four wheels), a camera, a cat and each other. And we have everything we could ever need.

Our own little Love Story

We met at 16 years young when a mutual love for Iron Maiden sparked our first conversation. Fate brought us together again at the (slightly more mature) age of 21 and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

Our relationship is based on give and take, support, and lifting one another up. We listen to each other's ideas and consider them, no matter how crazy they might be (which is how we ended up living in a van!)

For us, happiness isn’t how much money we have, or how much stuff we’ve got. It’s waking up next to each other every day, and knowing we get to spend the day together.

We love being wedding and elopement photographers because we know how much happiness love can bring. And we love that we get to spend our lives celebrating with people that they’ve found it too.

Where will your love story take us?

Fun fact: we signed our marriage certificate in Iron Maiden t-shirts to honour the night we met! (pictured)

Our Values

Equality

Love is Love! And whatever form it comes in, love is beautiful. If you’ve found your soulmate, you deserve to shout it from the rooftops and celebrate together like there’s no tomorrow.

And we’d absolutely love to celebrate with you. We do our best to create a safe, inclusive space for everyone. This will be the greatest day of your lives, and you should feel free to be your wonderful, complete, unedited selves for every second of it.

Sustainability

We try to make as little impact on our planet as possible, in our everyday lives and in our business. We’re both vegan and we offset our carbon footprint as much as possible by embracing the “leave no trace” principles.

As wedding and elopement photographers, we offer fully vegan wedding albums and prints. We help plant 300 trees a year as we travel around the country, and we’ll even plant a tree for you when you book with us! We’ll never make you feel embarrassed or guilty about any of your choices (after all, we do bloody love huge floral installations!) But we’ll always be happy to offer advice around keeping your wedding eco-friendly if you ask for it.

Honesty

Honesty is really important to us, so what you see is what you get.

We’ve taken The Ethical Move pledge, so we’ll never use fake scarcity or any other sneaky little tactics to drive sales! We don’t hide anything in small print, we don’t have hidden fees, and we won’t push you into doing anything you don’t want to. We don’t do what we do for the money. We do it simply because we love it.

“They blended into the wedding really well, it was just like having two extra guests there that you’ve known for ages.”

A little more about us…

Wedding photographer, Chris, sits on the kitchen side in a campervan as he plays the ukulele
Chris
  • said ‘I love you’ first… by accident.

  • doesn’t mind who your favourite Friends character is (as long as it's not Ross!)

  • Hiker, adventurer and avid litter-picker

  • Plays bass, drums and trombone (although we do have a ‘no big instrument’ rule in the van, so he has to stick to the ukulele!)

    Photography superpowers

  • Can practically see into the future. Think: cute kid candids and action shots

  • Sucker for detail shots and loves leaving context to the imagination

Wedding photographer, Harriett, sits on the sofa in the campervan looking up to Chris playing the ukulele with a smile on her face
Harriett
  • loves reminiscing and anniversaries (we have at least five anniversaries that we celebrate every year!)

  • adores The Lord of the Rings and used to dress up as a hobbit for conventions.

  • owned over 20 Iron Maiden t-shirts at one time.

  • Seeing people express their love for each other makes her so happy. Will definitely get emotional during your ceremony!

    Photography superpowers

  • Moments of connection; a look, a hug, a kiss.

  • Staying calm whatever happens and bringing only the good vibes

Maisie
  • Was a house cat for seven years, is now a fully-fledged van cat.

  • her favourite pastimes are; spying out the window, napping, eating, more napping and occasionally going for a walk around the van when we’re somewhere new.

  • hates her cat-carrier so she has her own little seatbelt in the front of the van and she loves watching the world go by as we drive.

  • looks so fetching in her high-vis jacket.

    Photography superpowers

  • Business admin

  • Team morale

  • Getting the purrfect shot (sorry).

Planning a day that’s right for you

As intimate wedding photographers, we want to help you plan a wedding that’s true to who you are as a couple.

And that could be a big party, a disco ball dance floor and everyone you’ve ever met. In which case, perfect! We’re there with bells on.

Or it could be a mountaintop elopement in Scotland with just your mums and a few of your closest friends. In which case, perfect! We’re there with boots on!

Whatever your perfect wedding might be, that’s the wedding we want you to have. And as your wedding photographers we’ll do whatever we can to give it to you.
